Details in the Woods

I only had minimal involvement with building design for this project, but I was extensively involved with designing numerous minor elements such as the fixed windows, cupolas, and custom light fixtures.

The owner was set on big and powerful site-built trusses, and also wanted cupolas on the roof. Each cupola is capped with a cor-ten cone.

I designed cor-ten trough gutters to be robust with strong lines, and to facilitate cleaning without any cumbersome internal gutter parts as there is much debris coming down from all the trees.

With a pallette established, I used metal and wood to detail europly (baltic birch) toilet partitions that are holding up very well almost a decade later.

Even on the back side of the building the relationship to the site is appropriately grand.
