Hot Tub Porch
Needing shelter for a porch to enjoy year round, we presented a glass canopy on timber as an uplifting solution for a secluded forest edge that sits facing a quiet side yard
Views are expansive as a planter was integrated into the perimeter to minimize obstructions--and to provide ample seating options.
The planter also adds visual steps back down into the landscape and a natural screen for the hot tub.
While the space is large, it is also intimate, and materials invite the mix of water and woodsy climate elements between the concrete pavers and glass roof.Â
There is a mix of seating options both for sitting and basking.
Light and shadow frequently conspire to animate the facade.
Corten steel supports the benches with an earthly attachment that integrates the natural raw material palette
In the end, a place for wood, water, stone, and time to join into a contemplative all-seasons space was created.
