Organic Farm Headquarters

This project began after the main farm operations building burnt down. With some ingenuity and lots of hard work by the owners, we created an admirable new building on a shoestring budget.

I wanted to use ample daylighting to make the processing area a happier space, without the need for extensive electrical lighting. Coupling the rhythm of high windows with clerestory trusses we infused the space with light, which both owners and workers have been thankful for.

The owners were astute in wanting a softer, traditional edge facing their own house, and the wood siding on the south end does just that.

The gable form also made space for an upstairs office.
